When did you start/stop smoking?
There’s a “Two Cents” item on sfgate.com, asking “When did you smoke your first cigarette? Your last?”
My response is included.

I smoked my last cigarette a year and a half ago. I tried my first one when I was 17 years old and smoked on and off for over a decade. I will never regret the day I gave it up. I have never felt better.

Interestingly enough, I smoked my last cigarette over ten years ago while building a poolhouse and outdoor kitchen for Phil and Jill Lesh at their former home in San Rafael. I went from two packs a day to none cold turkey and I’ve never regretted it, don’t miss it one bit.
